Celebrating Growth, Confidence, and Community: Our Spring Recital is Here!
Posted on May 22, 2026
It’s recital season at Pleasanton Academy of Music, and the energy in our studios is absolutely electric. Our students have been working tirelessly, and we are thrilled to announce that our upcoming Spring Recital will take place from May 29th to May 31st.
This year holds an incredibly special milestone for our community. For the very first time, we are hosting the event at our brand-new, premier location: the Pleasanton Recital Hall, located at 3908 Valley Ave, Ste A, Pleasanton, CA 94566.
Our new home is a huge, modern space designed specifically to showcase our students’ hard work. Featuring a stunning setup with two grand pianos and a comfortable seating capacity for over 400 audience members, it is the perfect stage for our young artists. Admission is completely free, and everyone is welcome to attend, support our performers, and enjoy a weekend of spectacular live music.
Why Recital Participation Matters: 12 Reasons to Join the Celebration
As an elite East Bay music school, we see firsthand how much effort goes into every single lesson. From piano lessons for toddlers discovering their very first rhythms, to advanced teenagers preparing for CM (Certificate of Merit Test) milestones, every step of the musical journey requires dedication.
While hours of individual practice at our music school in Pleasanton form the foundation of musical growth, the recital stage is where everything comes together. If your child is on the fence about performing this weekend, here are 12 powerful reasons why participating in a live recital is an irreplaceable part of a child’s music education:
- 1. A Tangible Goal to Work Toward: Having a set performance date teaches students how to manage their practice schedules, polish a piece to perfection, and understand the reward of long-term goal setting.
- 2. A Moment to Taste Success: Learning an instrument requires countless hours of solo practice. A public performance provides the recognition, applause, and celebration your child deserves for their hard work.
- 3. Showing That Your Family Values Music: Setting aside time in a busy schedule to sit in the audience tells your child that their musical education is important, meaningful, and valued by the entire family.
- 4. Reflecting on “Where They’ve Come From”: Watching younger, absolute beginners perform gives intermediate and advanced students a wonderful chance to reflect on their own progress and realize just how far they have advanced.
- 5. Seeing “Where They Will Go”: For a beginner, watching an advanced student play a complex classical piece, an intricate jazz arrangement, or an impressive sight-reading routine is incredibly motivating. It builds excitement for future repertoire, improvisation, composition, and advanced music theory.
- 6. Involving the Whole Family: Athletes often get the stadium glory, but music students rarely get an audience for their daily practice! The recital is a beautiful opportunity for grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends to share in your child’s achievement.
- 7. Learning to Navigate Nervousness: Experiencing butterflies before going on stage is completely natural. Facing those nerves in a warm, encouraging environment builds immense emotional resilience and real-world confidence.
- 8. An Opportunity for Genuine Praise: The big hugs, the post-performance photos, and the proud smiles create lifelong memories. Enthusiastic praise from parents and teachers causes a student’s commitment to soar.
- 9. Practicing Public Speaking and Stage Presence: Walking up to a grand piano, bowing, and performing in front of a crowd are fantastic ways to build strong presentation skills that will serve children well into adulthood.
- 10. Building a Strong Musical Community: Meeting peers who are also taking classes helps students build friendships, feel a sense of belonging, and realize they are part of a vibrant, supportive artistic community.
- 11. The Magic of Live Music: For many young children, a studio recital is their very first introduction to a live concert environment. Hearing a diverse range of instruments and styles live is a deeply enriching sensory experience.
- 12. A Dedicated Moment to Marvel at Your Child: In a busy household filled with daily distractions, the recital hall offers a rare, focused moment to sit back, quiet the noise, and feel immense pride as your child fills the room with beautiful music.
