Erik Urbina began his musical journey at a young age, first studying violin and then expanding to cello just one year later. He trained under symphony cellist Louise Saunders before continuing his advanced studies with renowned cellist Nina Flyer at The University of the Pacific. After graduating, Erik pursued further mentorship with internationally acclaimed cellist Jakob Koranyi.
Since 2009, Erik has been a dedicated and passionate music educator, teaching violin, viola, cello, and bass to students of all ages and levels. In addition to teaching, he actively performs with orchestras and symphonies throughout California’s Central Valley, and has appeared as a featured soloist with ensembles such as The Valley Community Orchestra, Zion Chamber Orchestra, and The MotherLode Symphony
Orchestra.
Erik also founded the Urbina Chamber Orchestra, an ensemble composed of his own students that regularly performs and offers young musicians the opportunity to experience chamber music in a supportive and inspiring environment.
His approach combines technical precision with expressive artistry, aiming to cultivate both skill and a deep love for music in each of his students.
