Trumpet And Steel Pan Instructor

Trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist Chris Aschman enjoys a multi-faceted career as a performer, educator, studio musician, and arranger. Currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area, he is fluent in both jazz trumpet and steelpan, and brings a special versatility to the many ensembles he performs with.

A Baltimore native, Chris segued to Philadelphia to study jazz trumpet at the University of the Arts with John Swana and George Rabbai in 2004. Since this time he has enjoyed a diverse career, having shared the stage with Paquito D’Rivera, Stanley Clarke, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Bakithi Kumalo, Chaka Khan, Kool and the Gang, Andy Narell, Guster, Father John Misty, The O’Jays, The Boxtops, G Love and Special Sauce, Lotus, Dopapod, Tauk, and many others. He has performed at venues such as Philadelphia’s Verizon Hall, The National Cathedral in Washington DC, the Queens Park Savannah in Port of Spain Trinidad, Iridium (NYC), Smalls (NYC), The Jazz Standard (NYC), The Herbst Theatre (SF), August Hall (SF), Yoshi’s Oakland, and more.
