Angelina Gutiérrez, Ed.D. has triple degrees in Music, Education & Religious Studies. Starting her piano studies at 4 years old, she finished all her academic music degrees at a very young age, in Manila, Philippines. She completed her Bachelor of Music degree at St. Scholastica’s College-Manila, her Master of Music degree with emphasis in Piano Performance & Music Literature from the University of the Philippines, and Doctor of Education degree from De La Salle University-Manila, all with high distinction awards. Re-locating later to Boston, MA, she accomplished her post graduate music studies at the New England Conservatory of Music & Harvard University Department of Music.
She has concertized as classical solo and collaborative pianist with chamber ensembles in Boston, Washington D.C., California, Honolulu, Guam, Toronto, and Manila, for community outreach projects of non-profit organizations. Her classical piano recordings and religious music arrangements were published by Pauline Media in Manila-Philippines, Honolulu, HI & Boston, MA. A former associate professor of music and religious studies, her numerous research projects in music pedagogy were awarded research grants for her lecture presentations at prestigious international universities in Europe, England, North America, Australia & Southeast Asia.
As a professional piano educator in Northern California, she integrates her multidisciplinary experiences in sharing her passion for teaching to all levels of piano students from beginner to advanced levels. She teaches piano technique, ear training, sight reading, music theory, music analysis and mastery of repertoire. She is competent in preparing piano students for recitals, festivals, exams and competitions for ABRSM, Certificate of Merit and US Open Music Competition. Angelina summarizes her piano teaching philosophy as ‘nurturing holistic development of each student towards artistic and lifelong enjoyment of music through outstanding standards, dedication and care for each student’.
